However, the actor’s family has now revealed that he has been diagnosed with a form of dementia. The family’s statement explains that the actor’s condition has advanced and is now identified as frontotemporal dementia, which is the most common form of dementia for people under 60 years old.
The family expressed their hope that the media will help raise awareness about the disease, which currently has no cure, but desperately needs more research.
“While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,” the family wrote on Instagram. “Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead. As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.”
Willis’ family has expressed gratitude to his fans for supporting him over the past year. They have also decided to make public his condition of FTD in order to spread awareness about the disease.
