Four-year-old boy breaks down in tears as stepmom reads heartfelt wedding vows

Emotional moment as Marine’s son is overwhelmed by love during wedding ceremony

A wedding is often a time for joyful tears, but for four-year-old Gage Newville, the emotions became too much to hold back. Standing beside his father, US Marine Corps Sergeant Joshua Newville, as he married Senior Airman Emily Leehan, Gage was overcome with tears when he heard vows written just for him.

Gage, dressed smartly for the big day, had been doing his best to keep it together. But little did he know that his soon-to-be stepmom had prepared a special moment just for him. As Leehan began reading her heartfelt vows, addressing the young boy directly, the emotions in the room became overwhelming.

According to The Daily Mail, she started by saying, “I want you to be safe, and to try your hardest and to be a good person.” That was all it took for Gage to break down, throwing his arms around her in an emotional embrace. The crowd let out a collective “aww” as Leehan tried to comfort him, whispering, “Don’t cry, baby.”

“You are a special boy”

Despite the tears, Leehan continued with her vows, expressing her deep love for Gage. “The last thing I hope you learn is that you are a special boy,” she said. “You are so extremely smart, handsome, and kind to others. You have helped shape me into the woman that I am today, and I may not have given you the gift of life, but life surely gave me the gift of you.”

Her words touched not only Gage but also the entire audience, including the groom, who couldn’t hold back his own emotions. It was a moment of pure love and family unity—one that will surely be remembered for years to come.

A wedding to remember

Despite the touching moment stealing the show, the ceremony continued, and Leehan and Newville exchanged their vows as husband and wife. However, due to their active-duty military service, the newlyweds couldn’t leave for a honeymoon right away. Instead, they returned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to begin their life together.

Their wedding was a beautiful reminder of the power of love—not just between two people but within a family. Gage’s emotional reaction captured hearts around the world, proving that sometimes, the purest love comes in the smallest packages.

What a beautiful moment to witness! We wish Joshua, Emily, and little Gage a lifetime of love and happiness. 💕
