Police have officially cleared the family of Nancy Guthrie in the ongoing investigation into her disappearance, calling them “victims plain and simple” as the search continues in Arizona.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on January 31 after being dropped off at her home near Tucson, Arizona. Since then, local and federal authorities have been working to determine what happened.

Nancy is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC’s Today show. Her disappearance has drawn national attention as investigators follow multiple leads.

Family cleared after rumors surface

In recent days, speculation online had raised questions about whether family members could be involved. One relative, Tommaso Cioni — the husband of Savannah’s sister, Annie — was reportedly the last person to see Nancy before she went missing.

However, officials have now made it clear that the family is not under suspicion.

Chris Nanos, sheriff of Pima County, said in a statement Monday that all siblings and spouses in the Guthrie family have been cleared.

“The Guthrie family — to include all siblings and spouses — has been cleared as possible suspects in this case,” Nanos said. He added that the family has been cooperative throughout the investigation and described them as victims.

Law enforcement sources had earlier indicated that investigators were not focusing on relatives as suspects, and Monday’s update confirmed that position.

Authorities have detained several individuals in connection with the case, though no arrests have been announced. Investigators continue to analyze evidence gathered from the area surrounding Nancy’s home.

According to reports, the FBI examined an item found near the residence that may be relevant to the case. Officials have not released further details as the investigation remains active.

Reward increased to $100,000

In an effort to generate new leads, the FBI has increased the reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts from $50,000 to $100,000.

Officials are urging anyone with credible information to come forward.

As the search continues, the Guthrie family has asked for privacy and prayers during what they describe as an incredibly painful time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
